It is located in the city of Ramallah, and is considered a prominent cultural and national landmark, established in honor of the great Palestinian poet Mahmoud Darwish. The museum was built in Al-Masyoun area on an elevated hill overlooking the city of Jerusalem. Its design reflects the essence of simplicity and humility that characterized Mahmoud Darwish as a poet, politician, and human being. The flow of its slopes and ascending stairways symbolizes the poet’s journey in presenting his cause to the world. The museum houses personal belongings, manuscripts, audio recordings, and works that document Darwish’s literary and intellectual journey, in addition to the poet’s mausoleum and a public garden used for cultural events.

The museum serves as a vibrant cultural space, hosting poetry evenings, exhibitions, and seminars that highlight the role of poetry in expressing Palestinians identity and national memory.
