Cultural / Museum
The Palestinian Museum was officially open to visitors in 2016 near Birzeit University, north of Ramallah, as a modern national institution dedicated to narrating Palestinian history and culture. The museum is distinguished by its contemporary architectural design, harmoniously integrated with nature, and its terraced gardens. It offers a wide range of exhibitions, as well as research and educational programs, and currently houses more than 2,100 items, including traditional Palestinian costumes and Tawfiq Canaan’s collection of amulets and talismans. The museum studies, documents, preserves, and displays its expanding art and ethnographic collections, presenting them as a tangible and visual representation of knowledge, history, identity, and heritage. It is worth noting that Birzeit University’s collections have formed a cornerstone of the museum for over 20 years.
