RasKarkar: is older than 200 years and was established by the Samhan clan. It contains the “IbnSamhan” castle which is very important because it is one of the very few castles of the “Throne Villages” (Palestinian villages which served as seats of political and military power for the local leaders during the latter half of the Ottoman rule) which remained in a relatively good shape until today. The village is a great witness of Palestinian history in the 18th and 19th centuries.
RasKarkar was a center for the leaders of “Qais Party” in the mountains of Jerusalem, and this party played a prominent role in internal, regional and international conflicts.
